东钱湖的龙舟节起始于钱湖庙会，旧时每逢农历九月十一、十六是钱湖两个热闹的庙会。据说，在某年的农历九月十一，陶公山船队在赛龙舟中一举夺魁，得胜者抢回来一尊菩萨，于是就在曹家山头造了座画船殿，并规定每年的农历九月一这一天为画船节。
The Dragon Boat Festival of the Dongqian Lake in Ningbo dates back to the popular temple fairs of the Dongqian Lake，which falls on the September 11th and 16th of the lunar calendar.It is said that on lunar September 11th of certain year，Taogongshan boat team won the title at the dragon-boat race.As the winner got a bodhisattva，they built a beautiful boat palace in the Cao Mountain.From then on September 11th of the annual lunar year is celebrated as Boat Festival.
