文化艺术是人们生活中不可缺少的内容。近年来，我国政府特别重视文化事业的发展，以推动精神文明建设与和谐社会建设。与此同时，各类文化活动和文艺表演也日益红火，为广大人民提供了丰富多彩的精神食粮。在这些文艺表演中，民俗和民间文化占有一席之地。

编译依然是此类新闻报道翻译的基本原则。在语言风格上，文化艺术类新闻报道的翻译有一些共性，在词语和句式上形成了一定的规律。但是，此类新闻报道的翻译难度仍然不小，尤其是我国一些演艺明星演唱的歌曲和出演的电影现在经常有港澳台元素的加入，而好莱坞影片也经常登陆我国。因此，一些片名、歌名的翻译就需要查询，同样，相关背景也需要查询。反映我国传统文化的一些词语，如各种戏曲剧种的名称，翻译时要注意进行必要的介绍和增添必要的背景。如果是港澳台地区的艺人参加的文艺表演，则需要注意他们的姓名翻译，第一是他们的姓名大多采用威妥玛拼音，如香港著名导演王家卫的姓名是Wong Kai-wai，其次是他们大多有英语名字，如张韶涵的英文名字为Angela。

我是长在夫子庙、喝秦淮河水长大的，是正统的南京人，做灯也有五十几年了，但是从来没有放水灯。

【配音】时隔多年，南京市秦淮区旅游局推出“传承民俗文化，情系十里秦淮”系列文化活动，在秦淮河畔重现“清明放河灯”，许多市民都感到十分欣喜。

【配音】对啊，为了防止火灾和污染，元宵节孔明灯被禁放了，那么在秦淮河里放河灯会不会“灯翻起火”?蜡烛烧完了，烛油会不会流到河里?

蜡烛点燃了以后会化成蜡油，蜡油不会淌到灯上面，而是淌到这个特殊装置——铝皮托里面。不会烧起来，怎么刮风它都不会翻。蜡烛烧完以后，它还是漂在水上，永远也沉不下去。

【配音】可是那么多的河灯最后会去哪里呢?

活动结束以后，我们会组织专门的船进行打捞，打捞后我们将进行集中处理。

【后口导】放河灯活动将在4月4日至6日的清明假期里举行。每天晚上6:30～10:00，在夫子庙泮池、中华门、东水关以及白鹭洲公园四处水域，市民都可以前去放河灯。从今年开始，秦淮区将在中国传统的端午节、七夕节、重阳节、中秋节等几大节日都开展放灯活动。以后夫子庙秦淮风光带将“节节有灯，月月有市”。

Lantern floating ceremony to reappear on Qingming Festival

The traditional custom of floating paper lanterns on rivers will be restored and observed for the first time in centuries during the forthcoming Qingming Festival in Nanjing，capital of East China's Jiangsu Province．

Citizens can come to light and float lanterns down the Qinhuai River，the largest river in the city，to pay respect to the dead loved ones or pray for blessings during the festival that falls on April 4-6 each year．

The custom of lantern floating dates back some 300 years ago in China，and it was first marked in Nanjing during the Ming Dynasty that lasted from 1368 to 1644 AD．Wishes were written on paper that was put in decorated lanterns，which then were left to drift on the water．By lighting the candle and setting adrift the lanterns，people worshiped the deceased or prayed for happiness and good fortune for families and friends．With time going on，however，the custom vanished gradually in the city．

Many citizens are glad to learn that the old ceremony will reappear after centuries as the local tourism bureau launches a series of events to preserve the traditional customs and culture．

But some citizens are concerned about the fire accidents and pollution that the floating lanterns may cause．

Lu Youchang，a skilled lantern-maker，said the wax oil produced from lit candles will flow to aluminum plates and will not burn．And the lanterns will never sink even if candles are burnt up，thus no wax will flow into the river．

Boats organized by the tourism bureau will retrieve the lanterns after the ceremony and they will be disposed of properly．

The lantern floating event is scheduled to last from 6:30 to 10:00 pm each day during the 3-day holiday．Starting this year，lantern floating ceremonies will be held in the city on several traditional Chinese festivals，including the Duanwu or Dragon Boat Festival，the Double Seventh Festival，the Double Ninth Festival，and the Mid-autumn Day．

N．Jiangsu city witnesses diabolo spinning contest

Diabolo players showcased their superb skills in a diabolo spinning contest recently held in North Jiangsu's Yangzhou City．

The contestants span the diabolo rapidly，twirling it around his or her body，throwing it up into the air or even passing it to another player．While spinning the diabolo，the players created interesting poses．Rounds of applause，coupled with the humming sound of the diabolo，added an exciting atmosphere to the contest，which was fascinated by citizens all over Yangzhou，including a 9-yearold boy．

Diabolo or Chinese yo-yo is originally a Chinese folk toy in which a round wooden box，dotted with several holes，is set at one end of a bamboo cylinder．When played with a string，the box revolves quickly and produces a buzzing sound through its holes．As a good form of exercise，diabolo spinning is popularized among common people throughout China．

Celebrated pop singers perform in Shanghai

Top Chinese pop singers Wong Lee Hom，Eason Chan，and Angela Chung presented a thrilling performance last Saturday in Shanghai．The concert was sponsored by Johnnie Walker，world's top Scotch whisky brand．
