三、译法多样化

本小节的主题在上面的部分例句中已经有所体现：一个句子可有两种甚至两种以上的译法。更为直白的说法是：有些句子有时主动被动均可，英语的表达可以是多样化的；采用哪种句型或译法，由译者根据具体情况决定；不同的译文有时难分轩轾，有时又的确可以看出一些差异。也许，更能说明问题的是下面这几个例句：

例38　要区别不同情况，继续对国有企业实施战略性改组。

C1. We should distinguish different situations and go on with the strategic streamlining on SOEs.

C2. The strategic restructuring of SOEs should continue in accordance with their varying conditions.

B1. We shall go on with the strategic streamlining on SOEs by distinguishing differentsituations.

B2. The strategic restructuring of SOEs shall be continued in accordance with their varying conditions.

请你仔细对比B1和C1，以及B2和C2，然后再拿A1与B1、A2与B2稍作对比。

A1. The different scenarios of (particular) SOEs shall be considered when we continue their strategic streamlining.

A2. The strategic restructuring of SOEs shall be continued by taking into account of their varying circumstances.

例39　在中国不是所有的自来水都可饮用，但瓶装矿泉水随处可以买到。

A1. Not all the tap water in China can be drunk directly, but bottled mineral water can be bought anywhere.

A2. Not all the tap water in China is potable, but bottled mineral water is on sale everywhere.

例40　自成立以来，我公司一直以多快好省的现货供应为广大客户所认同。

译文D 系某公司与汉语原文并列的原译文，除了标记之处外，漏译较多。其他四个译文为学生所做，显然好得多了。这些译文表现出了足够的多样化，如能改善标记部分都是“既对又好”的译文。在C中，credit确有“名誉，名望，声望”的义项，但在本句的上下文里难免令人想到该词的其他更为常见的释义。B1的末尾四个单词距离所修饰的对象较远。
