五、启事的翻译

（一）关于启事

启事（Notice）是一种公告性的应用文。机关、团体或个人如有事需向公众公开说明，就可以把它写成启事，张贴于布告栏。启事的种类很多，日常生活中常用的有寻人启事、寻物启事、招领启事、征稿启事、更正启事、征婚启事、开业启事、迁址启事等等。不同的启事，其译文的风格亦不同。

（二）启事的构成

启事通常由标题、日期、正文和落款构成。

（三）启事的特点及翻译

翻译启事要注意以下三点：

1.启事的标题一般位于上方正中，分为直接标题（如寻物启事“Lost”；失物招领“Found”；更正启事“Correction”）和间接标题（启事者根据启事的基本内容自定的标题）。标题要翻译准确，符合汉语的表达习惯。如上所列，Lost不译成“失去了”，Found也不译成“找到了”，而分别翻译成汉语启事的习惯表达“寻物启事”和“失物招领”。

2.英语启事的日期通常写在右上方，简单的启事可不注明日期。译成汉语时，按汉语习惯日期的位置在右下方启事者的下面。

3.英语启事一般不会很长，有的启事是用完整的句子写，也有用不完整句子写的，所以，译文的语言也要简练，通俗易懂，有助于读者记忆。

例1寻人启事

OLD MAN MISSING

July 18，2006

Liu Qiang，male，67 years old，gray－haired，wearing a white shirt and black trousers，got lost on the afternoon of 17th，July 2006，when he was returning home from the Park.He is about 1.72 meters tall and speaks Guang－dong dialect.

Whoever has found him or knows his whereabouts or has information that may lead to his location is requested to write or phone his family.

翻译时，注意本启事中两个长句，以及对人物描写的修饰性词汇的位置顺序的翻译。has information that may lead to his location译成“能提供寻找线索”，Profound thanks from...译成“不胜感激”。

本启事共由两个句子组成。翻译时，要注意英汉两种语言的特点：英语多长句，汉语多短句。所以，翻译时可把长句分开来叙述。这里把with后面的短语翻译成独立的句子，以符合汉语的表达习惯。

第一句是个长句，信息量较大，但句子结构简单，可按照英语原文的顺序翻译成汉语。第二和第四句为不完整句子，可按汉语习惯译成独立句或无主句。

要准确地翻译招聘启事，除了掌握基本的翻译方法外，对招聘启事包括的内容——所招聘的岗位、该岗位所要承担的责任、学历要求和能力要求——所涉及的专业词汇要准确翻译。

翻译实践

I.将下列句子译成汉语。

1.I was careless and lost a copy of The English－Chinese Dictionary when studying in the reading room yesterday.

3.Lost money found.Whoever lost it may come to claim it.
