英名：Red Knot
形态：小型涉禽，体长23-25cm。嘴较短而直，脚亦甚短。体较粗胖。夏季上体灰褐色具黑色中央纹，背具棕栗色、白色斑纹和羽缘，头侧和整个下体栗红色。冬季棕红色消失，上体灰色，头具细窄的黑色纵纹，背具细的黑色羽干纹和白色羽缘。下体白色，颊至胸具灰褐色纵纹。
虹膜褐色；嘴黑色；脚绿色。
分布：中国东部沿海地区有分布。在保护区属不常见的旅鸟。
习性：繁殖于北极冻原地带，冬季栖息于沿海海岸、河口等地。喜沙滩、沿海滩涂及河口。通常群居，常结大群活动。进食时嘴快速下啄，有时为取食把整个头都埋进去。主要软体动物、甲壳类等小型无脊椎动物为食。
