Naughty Daisy
There was once a dairy cow who was called Daisy. Every day she would accompany the other nine dairy cows to eat grass out in the field.
At sunset, the farmer would take them home. Daisy was very naughty. As soon as she saw the farmer she would always run to one side to hide. Each time that she started to run, her enormous, plump body would wiggle from side to side, and she would pant heavily.
With a wiggle to the left and a waggle to the right, wheeze, wheeze, Daisy hid behind the big tree.
With a wiggle to the left and a waggle to the right, wheeze, wheeze, Daisy hid behind the stone.
So, Mr. Farmer searched in the deep grass, but daisy wasn't there. The farmer looked in the ditch, but Daisy wasn't there. The farmer looked behind the rock, but Daisy wasn't there. Finally the farmer looked in the bushes. Ah! There she was.
"You are here, naughty Daisy." said the farmer,"Hide and seek is over. Go home quickly."
What would make it easier to find Daisy? The farmer thought and thought and finally came up with a plan. He would take advantage of when Daisy was asleep to tie a bell round her neck.
The next day, the farmer went as usual to take the cows back home. When the cows herded together, he started to count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 well behaved cows were all there, but Daisy was missing again.
By this time, the farmer did not go searching for Daisy. He stood there and listened. A "ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling" sound rang out from the behind the tree. Ah, she is there.
When Daisy wiggled this way and that, the bell would ring with a "ding-a-ling,ding-a-ling."
And so, every time that Daisy ran, she would wiggle to the left and waggle to the right, wheeze, wheeze, ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling...
The farmer was very happy, because he was always able to find Daisy very quickly. Daisy was also very happy, because she liked to hear the sound of the bell, ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling...
