熊的尾巴为什么这样短？
在很久很久以前，熊有一条漂亮的长尾巴，还没有学会冬眠。一个寒冷的冬天，他到外面去找东西吃，正好碰上一只狐狸。
这只狐狸偷了渔夫的几条鱼，正在狼吞虎咽地大吃呢。
熊馋得口水都流下来了，他问狐狸：“狐狸呀，你是怎样搞到鱼吃的呢？”
狐狸就骗熊说：“当然是我钓的。”
“我也想钓一些鱼。你能告诉我是怎样钓到的吗？”
狐狸很狡猾，他看看熊的长尾巴，就想出一个坏主意。他说：“钓鱼嘛，很简单。你在冰上凿一个洞，然后把你毛茸茸的尾巴放进去就行了。”
熊相信了狐狸的话，就照狐狸说的方法，在冰上凿了一个洞，坐下来，扭动着把他的毛茸茸的尾巴放了进去。
啊，好冷呀，熊冻得直发抖。可是，一想到很快就能吃到好吃的鱼了，熊就把尾巴往水的深处伸去。
Why is the Bear's Tail so Short?
Long, long ago, the bear had a beautiful long tail. This was before the bear had learnt to hibernate. One cold winter evening, he went outside to look for food. He came across a fox.
The fox had stolen a few fish from the fisherman and was in the process of gobbling them up.
The bear's mouth watered with hunger. He asked the fox, "Fox, how did you get those fish to eat?"
The fox fooled the bear, saying, "I fished for them of course."
"I also want to do some fishing. Could you tell me how?"
The fox was very crafty. He glanced at the bear's long tail, and thought of a wicked idea. He said,"Fishing is very easy. You drill a hole in the ice and then just insert your fluffy tail.
The bear believed the fox and did as he suggested. He drilled a hole in the ice and sat down, twisting his fluffy tail down into the water.
Ah! How chilly it was! The bear shivered from the cold. However, when he thought of the fish he was soon to eat, he stretched his tail deeper into the water.
狐狸坐在旁边看着熊，问：“是不是有什么东西在咬你的尾巴？”
“是的，是的。”熊回答。
狐狸说：“那是鱼吊在你的尾巴上了。”
过了一会儿，熊说：“可以了吗？”

狐狸说：“可以了！”
这时，熊试着把尾巴拿回来，发现自己的尾巴已经被冰牢牢地冻住了。
熊发愁了：“我怎样才能把鱼从水里拿出来呢？”
The fox sat beside the bear, watching him. He asked,"Is there something biting at your tail?"
"Yes, yes there is." replied the bear.
The fox said, "That is a fish who has hooked onto your tail."
After a while, the bear said, "Finished now, right?"
The fox said, "No, not yet. The longer you wait, the more fish you will catch."
After another while, the bear was so cold he could stand it no longer. He asked again, "Now I can take it out?"
The fox answered, "Yes, you can!"
At this point, the bear tried to take out his tail, but discovered that it had been frozen firmly in the ice.
The bear was most worried. "How can I bring the fish out from the water?"
狐狸说：“这容易得很。你先用力往左边一滚，再用力往右边一滚，然后快速地站起来，就可以了。”
于是，熊用力地往左边一滚，再用力往右边一滚，然后快速地站了起来。“啪”的一声，他的尾巴断了。
