(一)任务不匹配
阅读任务设置是为了词汇目标的达成而服务的。如果任务没有针对词汇目标进行设置,那么语言学习就达不到学以致用之目的,所以阅读任务的设置就显得尤为重要。但在实际教学中,有些阅读任务设置无法促成词汇目标。
【课例片断4】 必修5 Unit1 Great scientists—Warming-up&Reading:John Snow defeats“King Cholera”
在阅读教学的输出练习中,这位教师让学生填词,完成summary。
John Snow was a well-known doctor in London in the 19th century.He wanted to find the cause of cholera in order to defeat it. In 1854 when a cholera broke out,he began to gather information.He marked on a map where all the dead people had lived and he found that many people who had drunk the dirty water from the pump died.So he decided that the polluted water carried cholera.He suggested that the source of all water supplies be examined and new methods of dealing with polluted water be found. Finally,“King Cholera”was defeated.
〖分析说明〗 本案例的输出练习与词汇目标无关。本课要求掌握的单词22个,词组6个,如cure,suspect,expose...to,absorb into,severe,draw a conclusion,be to blame,link...to,pollute,announce,defeat,pump等。而这位教师设计的summary只用到了defeat和pump两个生词,其他核心词汇的运用没有得到应有的重视。教师没有让学生运用关键词,使他们进一步内化与吸收核心词汇,加深对文章篇章结构的认识。这就不难理解为什么学生背了大量的单词,却还是无法正确地运用。如果教师在阅读教学中设计问题的时候没有考虑到学生的语言输出问题,设计的讨论或者写作任务与词汇目标无关,就达不到巩固词汇的效果,也就是无效输出。
