1. Pass the hat. 大家出钱吧！

Pass the hat的意思是“大家出钱”，也可用pass the hat round，表示“集资，筹款”，多用于为生病的同事或搞庆祝活动筹款。例如，你的同事阿曼达要结婚了，你希望和其他同事一起凑钱给她买礼物，就可以说Amanda will get married and we pass the hat round for her。这种情况就一定会用到put in或plug in，其意思是“出多少钱”，如：Everybody puts in 5 dollars. （每人出5美元。）

2. He is wearing two hats.他身兼两职。

Hat在口语中还可以用来象征官职，wear two hats的意思是“身兼两职”，可千万别理解成“戴了两顶帽子”。例如，在朋友聚会上，你见到了老朋友拉里，问他怎么总是那么忙，他可能会解释道：I am wearing two hats。
