词汇是语言的基本材料,是一切语言活动的基础,词汇对于英语学习如同砖块对于大楼建筑。学生的听、说、读、写、译等各方面的技能的培养和提升都是以词汇的积累为基础的。因此,在一轮复习过程中,必须加强词汇的积累、拓展和运用。我们可以为学生创设词汇运用的情境,帮学生把词汇融入语言实践活动之中,让学生在运用中理解词汇,在实践中掌握词汇。
如复习必修一第一单元(Module IUnit5 Nelson Mandela-amodem hero)中的单词devote的用法时,我先给学生展示了网上下载的视频资料。内容是有关台湾公益人士——漂亮女士为西藏教育募集资金并为学生上课的情景。之后让学生用一句话来描述这段视频,学生脱口而出:A Devoted Teacher或A Devoted Lady然后,我让学生二人一组回忆总结devote的用法,并作情境填空练习:
Li Hua is our devoted friend.After he graduated from a university in 1980,he went to work in Tibet,since then he has devoted himself to improving the education of the local people.He devoted a lot of time and energy to raisingmoney tobuildmore schools;Sometimes,he himselfdevotes some of his time to teaching in a school.His devotion to hiswork touches the people deeply.They all think highly ofmy friend.
之后,展示单项填空题:

这样,在情景中调动了学生的耳、眼、口、手各器官,让他们在运用中强化对词汇的词性、短词搭配的用法。
同样的方法还可以运用在短语复习中,如复习turn的搭配时,我先给学生一篇情境性片段供学生填空。
This morning,my grandmother turned on the radio to listen to news as usual.She felt she couldn’t hear clearly,so she turned it up.But itwas no use,she had to turn tomy father for help.Isaw my father turn off the radio and turn it over to see whatwas wrong.It turned out that the button didn’t work any more.My father repaired it and told my grandmother to turn down the radio,for the neighbor’s little baby was asleep at the time.
然后,让学生总结turn的搭配,在屏幕上展示出来。在这两段文章提供的画面和情境中,学生体会和掌握了单词和短语的基本用法。高中英语课程标准指出高中英语课程教学要特别着重培养学生用英语获取信息、处理信息和传达信息的能力、分析问题和解决问题的能力以及用英语进行思维和表达的能力。只有以词汇为基础才能培养学生的这种综合语言运用能力。
