［摘要］今天社会发展的现实极大地提升了创造力对于个体，对于社会的价值，因此，创造力的培养也成了教育、教学的重要任务之一。这是世界各个国家共同面临的一个课题。尽管我们不断努力实践和探讨着这个世界话题，而就这种探讨的基础而言，世界各国的起点是不一致的。本书选取了当代欧美国家在这一问题上的研究现状作为描述的对象，正是因为这些国家的研究领域对于这一问题的探讨和实践是走在我们前面的。我们可以从这些国家的研究中吸取一些东西，而这种学习和吸收的过程必将加速我们前进的步伐。这也是作者写作本书的意义之所在。
教育、教学领域若想实现对于学生创造力的有效鉴别和培养，首先必须解答创造力性质的问题，也必须在此基础上探讨实现创造力培养的有效教学方式的问题。本书的介绍和评论正是围绕这两个问题展开的。首先，本书介绍了欧美国家创造力认识发展的历史，它展现了这些国家在创造力培养研究上的大背景，使我们了解了人们对于创造力性质的认识和研究不断演变的过程。其次，本书描述了作为创造力培养研究基础的创造力研究的理论发展。它为创造力培养研究提供了进一步的背景和历史基础。本书写作的中心以上述两部分为铺垫，介绍了欧美国家创造力培养的有效教学条件的研究和理论发展情况。基于以上的介绍，本书又对近十年的一些新的发展作了一定的描述。在本书的最后，作者进行了总结，并且提出了自己的一些观点和想法。
［Abstract］As the development of the society，the value of creativity to the individual and the society is becoming quite important．The fostering of creativity has also become the duty of the education and instruction．Creativity has been the international topic．Although we all devoted to it，its study is not in the same level in different countries．So we choose the western countries as our object．From them we can earn more information on creativity and creativity fostering，which will give us strength to go on．Here is also the significance of this book．
If the educational and instructional system wants to gain the success on identifying and fostering the creativity of the students，it must first solve the problem about the nature of creativity，then can discuss the effective instructional methods to identifying and fostering it．So the book gives emphasis to these two issues．Firstly，we introduce the development of the creativity study in European and American countries，which give us the big picture on the study of creativity fostering．Secondly，we describe the theoretical development of creativity．They all are the historical basis of the study of creativity fostering．Then we come to the central part of the book．In this part，we discuss the effective instructional methods/conditions and theories on creativity fostering in these countries，then show the development in the last ten years．Finally，we give some arguments and opinions ourselves on the basis of above all．
